What is the Flinders Perry Telethon Trust? The Flinders Perry Telethon Trust has been established to receive funds in the form of donations or bequests to assist the work of the Operation Flinders Foundation. What is Operation Flinders? Operation Flinders is a challenging eight-day expedition for young offenders and young people at risk aged 14 to 18 years. It takes them out of their environment and helps to rebuild their confidence and people skills through positive experience and achievement. Click here to visit the Operation Flinders website. Why was the Flinders Perry Telethon Trust set up? The Trust was set up to seek, invest and provide funding to the Operation Flinders Foundation to support the work of the Foundation. Funds donated will be invested in blue chip investments with the aim of growing the fund, and every 12 months a grant will be provided to the Foundation to assist it with the running of the program. Why should I donate or bequest funds to the Trust as opposed to donating to the Operation Flinders Foundation? All donations will benefit Operation Flinders, but funding donated to the Foundation will be expended in the year donated to run the program. Funding donated to the Trust is invested and your donation or bequest will provide support to the Foundation for many years to come. Who set up the Flinders Perry Telethon Trust? The Perry Family Trust, a South Australian family trust, donated funding to Operation Flinders on the condition it be used to raise interest and income from investment to support and grow the Foundation in an ongoing manner. The Channel 9 Telethon organisation had previously donated funding with the same preferred objective. The Board of Management of the Foundation therefore decided to establish the Flinders Perry Telethon Trust using the funding from both organisations. Who are the Trust Members? The Trust comprises two members of the Board of Management of Operation Flinders, a representative from the Perry Trust and a member from the Board of Management of Channel 9 Telethon.
